Amber

Amber had surgery today to remove some polyps from her nose. Bless her heart, this is her 3rd surgery this year. I told her that the motto for 2009 is "No more surgeries!" She is home and doing well. Take care, God bless, and Happy New Year!

Heather

Thanks for all your prayers. Heather saw the specialist today. The Doctor said that Heather's cervix lengthened 5 cms. That is really good news! She told her to continue on bed rest. Heather is at 24 weeks now.

Feeling Melancholy

This has been such a tough year. My mother passed away in March, and my Step-father passed away in July. I hope they are happy and at peace. I miss them...

Heather

Heather saw the Maternal Fetal Specialist today. She found out that her cervix is beginning to open up a bit, she is only at 22 weeks gestation. The specialist put her on bed rest. Depending on what happens at her appointment next week she may be getting a cervical cerclage, which is a fancy term for a stitch that holds the cervix shut. Please keep Heather and the baby in your prayers.

Snow in Henderson?

Yes, it snowed in Henderson It was really fun! We hunkered down, drank hot chocolate, and watched the snow fall. I have to admit I was relieved when it melted. I've lived in Henderson all of my life and I've never driven in the snow!

Silas and Santa

We took Silas to see Santa. He was so excited, it was really cute. He was under the impression that Santa was going to give him all of his Christmas gifts after he sat on his lap. He was a bit disappointed so Grandma just had to let him open a few of his Christmas gifts when we got home. After seeing Santa Silas built a koala bear at Build a Bear. Silas is so funny, he chose the r-o-a-r sound box to go in his bear. It was a really fun day.

Amber and Silas

I took the day off on Friday and had some fun. Am and I got a haircut. When Silas heard about it he said "Grandma, I want a haircut too!" I don't know about you, but any time one of the kids willingly suggests a bath or a haircut I jump right on it. I took him to the hairdresser and he was so cute. He smiled and smiled. He looked at himself in the mirror and turned his head from side to side admiring his new haircut. Finally he said "Man, I look cool!" He sure did. Then, we went to his favorite place (McDonalds!) to play and have a bite to eat. He met some new friends and played for about an hour. Thanks, guys, it was a really fun day.

The Surgery Went Well

Am's surgery went well. I felt so sorry for her. Bless her heart, she has been through a lot with that knee. I hope that she will have a somewhat easy recovery. On a different note we are getting ready for Halloween and our Silas' 4th birthday. I can't believe it has already been 4 years. He has been so much fun and is such a blessing in our lives.

Amber

Amber had surgery on her knee a few months ago. On Monday she was in a minor car accident. There was just a little bit of damage to the car, but a lot of damage to her knee. She has to have surgery on it again to repair the damage caused by the car wreck. Her surgery is on Wednesday of next week. Please keep her in your prayers.

Heather got good news at her appointment with the Center for Maternal- Fetal Medicine. Everything looks good so far. They did an ultrasound and the baby looks great. Heather said she was even able to see the baby's fingers. She is 12 weeks along. We are going to find out the baby's gender in 3 more weeks. We are so excited.

New Vans

I took the day off from work on Thursday and Silas came over to visit. He informed me that his shoes were getting tight so we went over to Mervyns to get him a new pair. He is really in to "Iron Man" right now so I really thought he might choose "Iron Man" shoes over his usual "Vans" favorite. Although he thought the "Iron Man" shoes were "cool!" he still chose his Vans. Spending time with this little guy just lights up my life.

Special Memories

This was Silas sitting next to the "eyeball punch" last Halloween. My friend, Dawn, taught me how to make eyeball punch. She helped me to find joy in holidays again. She has been such a blessing in my life. I was able to have dinner with Dawn and April last night. I really had a good time. I love you guys. By the way, Silas will turn "4" on Halloween. I can't wait to celebrate this special day with him.

Dad, Mom, and Amber

We spent some time with my Dad and Mom last weekend. I made a scrapbook for my Dad of pictures of my brothers and I when we were very young. It was so much fun to put this together for him. There were a few people in the pictures that I didn't recognize and Dad was able to tell me who they were. I sure do love my Dad and Mom. Dad has such a good sense of humor, he always makes me laugh.

A Picnic to Remember

I love this picture of Kim, Kaleb and Silas at the park. Kim and her kids are so cute with Silas. They love him and he loves them. I can't imagine what life would be like without family and close friends to help each other through the difficult times and joyously celebrate the good times. This picnic is a special memory. The past few months have taught me to really appreciate the special times in life.

Silas and Grandma

I was looking back through my pictures and found this one of Silas and I. This was the day we brought him home. What a miracle he was (and is!) I feel so very blessed to have him in my life. He is so much fun and such a blessing. I love you so much Silas.

1st Appointment

Heather invited me to go with her to her 1st OB appointment. The doctor decided to do an ultrasound to determine the baby's size and the due date. It was so fun and exciting to see the teeny, tiny heart flashing on the ultrasound screen. I can't wait to start buying baby clothes! Maybe we will get a little girl this time. :-)

1969

This picture is a bit fuzzy, but this is Mom, Rickie, Randy and I in 1969. Rickie and Randy were my protectors. Every girl should be so lucky to have 2 brothers that love her so much. I love them, too. I miss you, Mom...

My Dad and Mom

I spent some time with my Dad and Mom today. I waited with my Mom while my Dad had a surgical procedure done at the Surgery Center. Mom and I visited while Dad was in surgery. We talked about special memories-- days spent at the lake, picnics at the mine, summers in Illinois. The times we shared are the best memories of my childhood. I love you, Mom and Dad.
